THE PANTANAL

The Pantanal is located in the heart of South America in the states of Mato Grosso and  Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil.  The Pantanal is the largest wetland area in the world, surrounded by Cerrado and Chaco biomes and the Amazon biome to the north.  This Pantanal is severely threatened by climate change and habitat destruction from the cattle and  agricultural industries intent on burning and clearing the natural habitat that is critical for the Pantanal's survival.

 CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES

The beauty of the scenic plateaus and waterfalls of Chapada dos Guimarães is stunning.  This transition area has a mix of tropical and cerrado biomes, sharing some of the same wildlife that is seen in the Pantanal, with the addition of macaws mot-mots and other tropical birds that make tis a paradise destination.

These plateaus are home to the source waters of the Pantanal and climate change is causing less rain, drier seasons with increased danger of wildfires.
